The fact is, the without Steve Jobs, the world as we know it today would unquestionably be different.
He surely lived a full life, but definitely died way too young. I really admire what he created from his vision and passion (including the computer from which I am typing, and possibly the phone from which you are reading).
I especially value the wisdom he shared during the Stanford commencement speech along with these 5 things he called “Undeniable Facts of Life” while he awaited his last breath.
They are as follows:
Don't educate your children to be rich. Educate them to be happy so that when they grow up, they will know the value of things, not the price. We must remind those we lead, those we raise that happiness is the key to being successful. Doing what we love creates passion, focus and resiliency.
Eat your food as your medicines. Otherwise, you have to eat medicines as your food. Humans have a great ability to heal themselves with the proper diet. Be careful what we use as our fuel.
The one who loves you will never leave you for another because even if there are 100 reasons to give up, he or she will find one reason to hold on. You learn in life that it’s never the number of friends who matter, only the quality of those relationships.
There is a big difference between a human being and being human. Only a few really understand it. Being human requires having compassion, empathy and honesty. Those are not hard traits for us to practice each day.
If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.
Of course, there are many many more undeniable facts of life that he did not include in these fab five. But this is a good start if you needed a reminder.
I am sure that these are not new facts to you - I have heard them before, too, from other people and places. Steve Jobs may have come up with some early Apple products, but he did not come up with these unique ideas.
We all need reminders. It's incredibly easy to lose sight of what truly matters amidst the busyness and distractions of everyday life!
Reminders come from reading, listening and talking, from conversations we have and conversations we tune into.
You will for sure find lots of reminders about what is important for midlife women in the newest Second Spring podcast episode with Regan Walsh.
You will be reminded that:
We don’t have to do it all.
Parenting means letting go.
What we are doing, we are choosing.
We can redefine what success means to us.
We are not a mess; we are doing the best we can.
Some things might not be a problem to be fixed, but a challenge to be managed.
And so much more!
Have a listen to this episode if you have not already!

May appointments for Second Spring Session (Acupuncture Plus) are available for booking now.
As much as I loved my little “sabbatical” earlier this year, I am loving spending time with patients and clients now more than ever.
It’s good to be back!
