My stars are apparently aligned with wonderful South African women this week. 🥰
First there’s Xen on the new Second Spring podcast episode wherein we discussed mindful and intuitive eating for midlife women along with other intriguing topics (like how Xen and her husband sold most of their belongings to move from South Africa to start a new life in Europe)!
Second, we are hosting a South African physician this week, Christa, here in Bexley. She’s about to experience a Planned Parenthood gala (!), the Columbus Crew game (!) and an evening at the Symphony (!).
But before any of those fun things, she experienced a homemade meal made by yours truly last night.
I fixed a simple, colorful salad with locally grown greens, cherry tomatoes, sweet peppers, cucumbers, avocado and grapefruit. After making a pretty plate for her, I offered a few types of dressings.
“Oh no, thankful. I would like to have it just like this,” Christa politely declined the dressing offer.
“Are you sure?” I asked.
“Yes! I just like the taste of fresh vegetables. I used to not even like vegetables, but when I learned that they each have very unique tastes, I got to really like them just as they are!”
I loved Christa’s answer and agreed with her. When the food in its original form is already so flavorful, there is really no need to douse it with extra things!
I followed suit and enjoyed a beautiful salad with more mindfulness than I would have otherwise.
The “naked” salad was divine and I have my two South African friends to thank!
Tune into the podcast episode with Xen to learn more about how intuitive and mindful eating can help you feel so much better about eating and feel so free from all the food chatter!
You can also watch the unedited version of our conversation on my YouTube Channel. here.
Sending you much love and gratitude today,
xoxo
