Hey, Kit! Are you okay?!
A few people have reached out after the recent S.O.S. posts to make sure I’m alright. I get why you might be a little concerned: The pint of ice cream! The tattoos! The tears!
If you have no idea what I’m talking about, you can peek at the last two S.O.S. posts where I shared my midlife metamorphosis/awakening/chrysalis chapter — the one that might sound a lot like yours. It’s that very common (and very quiet) tangle of inner and outer shifts that tends to sweep through women between 40–60… and likely beyond.
So no, I’m not reporting anything outrageous. But I get that you may not have expected me to be in it let alone share it publicly.
Or maybe you’re actually relieved to hear someone else say it out loud.
To answer the question: Yes, I’m okay. I’m more than okay!
It does not mean that this season has not been fascinating, disorienting, and illuminating — a strange cocktail of sleepless nights, achy joints, grief, gratitude, and growth. I’ve supported many women through this exact passage, and now getting to live it myself has been… well, humbling.
To be clear, I’m not sharing the vulnerable pieces to get sympathy. I’m sharing because I want you to feel seen. Because I do know what you might be moving through.
I wouldn’t have made it this far without the team — my professionals, my friends, my mind-body-medicine tools — and I want to offer you support in the ways I can.
