Professing Love 🥰🌱
To March, to midlife, to you
I used to intensely dislike the month of March.
By mid-March, a familiar restlessness would start buzzing under my skin. The unpredictability of this month just never jived with me!
There’s a push-pull energy to this time of year. One day it’s warm enough to crack the windows and leave the coat behind. The next, winter tightens its grip like it never left. You hear birds rehearsing their spring songs. You see snowdrops rise out of frozen ground. Then the thawing puddles refreeze and you find yourself slipping on black ice.
We follow those March breadcrumbs with so much hope.
Sometimes I want to primal scream:
March, let’s f-ing MARCH forward!
But on a good day, I catch this silly pattern. I remember that fighting reality — especially with nature — always ends the same way: disappointment and defeat.
The truth is: March isn’t playing a game.
March is just being March — consistently in transition, carefully shifting the frequency from dark to light, masterfully moving from yin to yang.
So I decided to love March — and let March be March.
Why shouldn’t I?
It’s adorable to witness. Bittersweet. Honest. Predictably unpredictable. It teaches patience and leads us toward light. It reminds us that we don’t control the timing — but we do get to choose how we move within it.
Plus, it’s easier to pronounce than February. If you’re not a native English speaker, you must feel me!
Besides professing my love for March in public here, I would also like to invite you into a few offerings this month. They’re designed to help you move with the season — externally and internally — instead of against it.
Here are a few ways to practice loving March in real time:
