I’m in the UK, spending time with a dear friend and some family from Thailand (the fake White Lotus monks are on the move).
Just a few hours after landing, feeling rough from a sleepless flight and running on zero caffeine, my sweet friend greeted me with “how are you feeling?”
It had been a long time since we’d seen each other, and he genuinely wanted me to catch him up. It wasn’t just a polite pleasantry.
“Well, let’s see. I am definitely jet lagged and tired. Pretty overwhelmed, somewhat confused and a little anxious. But I’m also really excited and really happy! What do you think? Let’s go find coffee?!” I said.
He grinned, his eyes sparkling at my instant overshare. “Wow, that’s a lot, Kit. I can’t wait to hear more!”
And that’s how this trip began.
Have your first few months of 2025 felt like a lot, too?
Have you been riding the waves of big emotions — the ones that can feel amazing, overwhelming, a little or a lot scary?
Let’s be real: since those late hours of November 6, 2024, many of us in the U.S. have been moving through a heavy mix of feelings — politically speaking. Dread, grief, sadness, anger, fear… even hatred. It’s been a real ringer!
But life, thankfully, is more than just politics — even though for some of us, the impact has been deeply devastating and personal. Still, we continue to have moments that invite in other emotions, too — the ones that uplift us. Amidst negativity, we also get to feel love, joy, delight, and awe. We get to be excited and nervous, calm and connected.
As humans, we get to experience the whole wheel of emotions!
In my practice, I am truly privileged to help you navigate challenging feelings and experiences in your health and well-being. Acupuncture and reflexology can support the movement of stuck energy — emotion, after all, is simply energy in motion. Paired that with coaching or hypnosis, we can begin to shift the thoughts, stories, and beliefs that shape how you feel and what actions you take.
One of my favorite analogies around feelings comes from observing the weather.
We can all agree that weather is always happening — constantly changing, completely out of our control. And yet, we often have strong opinions about it.
Our minds are quick to create stories about the weather — especially when it’s less than ideal. We think things like:
What a miserable day — this makes me so depressed.
This rain is ruining everything. What a drag!
I hate living in a place that’s so grey.
I can’t believe it’s so hot (or cold, or windy) out!
These stories seem harmless, but they can absolutely shape how we feel — often more than the weather itself.
On a sunny, clear, just-right kind of day, those stories usually lead us to feel joy, ease, and happiness.
But when the sky turns grey, when it's cold or wet or unpredictable, our internal stories often turn darker, too. We feel sad, low, unmotivated.
We tend to resist what is.
The great teacher Byron Katie puts it simply:
“When you argue with reality, you lose — but only 100 percent of the time.”
So what if we treated our emotions like the weather?
Just like the sky shifts from blue to stormy and back again, our emotional landscape is always changing. When we resist what we’re feeling, we add suffering on top of discomfort.
But if we let feelings come and go — whether stormy or sweet — we align ourselves with reality.
When we allow ourselves to fully experience the richness of being human and feel all the feelings, something beautiful happens: we suffer less and feel more joy. We spend less time stuck in the past or worrying about the future — we get to be grounded in the present, embracing life as it unfolds.

I believe we were built to hold all emotions — the big, the small, the beautiful, the hard. They’re not here to harm us. In fact, when we avoid or suppress them, they tend to grow louder, stronger, scarier… like the monster under the bed.
What’s more, when we distract ourselves from difficult emotions, we often turn to “over-ing” — over-drinking, over-eating, over-gambling, over-ruminating… or other quick fixes that bring temporary pleasure and relief but often leave us feeling worse.
When we meet those big feelings with curiosity and compassion — and allow them to move through us like passing weather — we create space for healing, clarity, and freedom.
That’s when we truly begin to live more fully, without piling on extra layers of suffering.
If you're someone who tends to bristle at authority, I get it. But I have a feeling you might agree that the weather could be one of our best, most unconventional teachers.
I, for one, am more than willing to bow to this guru — who is, quite literally, always available to us.
Wherever you are today — and whatever the weather is doing — I hope you can let things be just as they are.
Let the weather be the weather.
Let your feelings come and go like passing storms, clouds or a quick spring rain.
No need to resist. Enjoy the flow inside, and out. If it does not feel great in the moment, know that it, too, will pass. It always does!
With love and gratitude,
xoxo
Kit
P.S. Remember this: if you’re struggling with the “weather,” help is never far away.
Reach out to your wellness team, if you have one. Connect with the people in your life who will hold space and truly listen. Ask for help without shame — it’s a sign of strength, not weakness.
We’re not meant to do this life thing alone!
If you can wait until mid May, I’m teaming up with two talented friends and colleagues to offer a special session designed to support you through whatever storm you might be navigating.
It’s a nourishing blend of Acupuncture + Sound Bath + Meditation — a chance to reset your nervous system, reconnect with yourself, and simply be held.
If that sounds like something your body and soul would enjoy, you’re warmly invited to reserve a spot — and bring a friend, too.
Space is limited. Registration opens today — April 13!
P.P.S. My May schedule is open. You can make your appointment now.
