How Lucky Am I?
No need to label it
“A few of my colleagues asked what I’m doing differently—I seem so much calmer,” one of my patients shared at the start of our fourth session in the Ohio State University acupuncture for cancer support group.
“What did you tell them?” I asked, genuinely curious.
“Well, the only thing I’m doing differently is this,” she said. “So I told them… it must be the acupuncture. And I do feel something is different. It’s hard to describe, but I can just feel it.”
This is something I hear often from patients who come in regularly—not because something is wrong, but because something feels right with consistent care.
They feel better, in a way that doesn’t quite fit into words.
And that’s the cool thing about it—we don’t actually need a label for this indescribable experience.
It’s that in-between feeling. Somewhere between settled and calm. Between ease and joy. Sometimes, it’s enough to just feel it. To know it.
To let it be what it is without labeling it.
Here’s what I want you to know:
That feeling?
It’s created by you and within you.
It’s not the needles. Not the heat lamp. Not the music.
It’s definitely not me.
It’s your own system which has the ability to regulate, to restore, to heal.
It’s your Qi—your innate intelligence—that knows exactly what to do, gently bringing you back into coherence, without needing a name for it.
How incredible is that?
I’m just the facilitator who is always all in on you.
How lucky am I?
Sending you a big hug,
xoxo
